Hoodies + Skittles+ Iced Tea = Trayvon Martin? No, not exactly.

Wow, it’s been quite some time since I’ve rambled on here about anything…on a blog that I pay for. What the hell is wrong with me?

Oh well. I’m back, that’s all that matters.

I have had a few personal setbacks in the past few months that have slightly hindered me from dedicating my time to one of my hobbies: writing. In the past seven months, two of my absolute closest relatives have fallen terminally ill and died.

I am still reeling from that pain…

However at the same time, I have met someone who has evoked a happiness in me that I didn’t know could be rekindled. I was mad at him last week but found out it’s cause I’m rollin with mother nature. This man makes me happy, he makes me smile and says I am beautiful. His biggest request out of me is when we go out in public together, for me to be the beautiful woman I am…

I can try to handle that.

Enough with the mushy gushy stuff. We will return to that…I do have a concern now though. Racism is back. It is back on both playing grounds, Black and White and this whole trial has been grossly misconstrued by the media and their lustful desire to keep the world separated. If we as a people are not separate and arguing, what will they have to write about?

NOTHING.

I cannot sit back and pretend I followed this case like most everyone else. Honestly, it didn’t affect me one way or another.

Until people started getting nasty on Facebook and Twitter. I for one am sick and tired of Black people now blaming every single White person on the planet for a few others short comings. Not only that, George Zimmerman wasn’t just White, he was HALF HISPANIC. I am also growing tired of White people saying Trayvon Martin was a thug who got what he deserved or that he was this and he was that. Not one of us was there, we don’t know what really transpired so we cannot really pass too much judgement on this kid. Many people are saying he was 6’2″ and “x” amount of weight…so what?! He was still someone’s CHILD. Not out of high school yet. There was no need for Zimmerman to get out of his car and follow the kid, just let him go and call the cops if you feel that threatened!

We as Americans need to COME TOGETHER not separate on this whole issue because Martin was a Black kid and Zimmerman had the physical appearance of a White man. Attack the root of the problem not the person!

I commented on a local news stations story about a Black man who is being charged with murder after shooting and killing (I’m assuming) a White woman in a small town in rural North Carolina. Well, there was a statement written that I took as being a little insensitive. Of course I said something about it, explained my reasoning for disliking such a comment and kept it moving. However, later on that night, the lady who made the comment inboxed me and explained herself much deeper. I then understood what she meant. Of course, the approach was a little distasteful on the heels of the Martin case, but she apologized and explained.

More people should be willing to forgive and keep the ball rolling…Bottom line, I don’t think he should’ve been charged with murder, but maybe the most harsh sentencing for manslaughter.

To be continued.
